Selçuk Ephesus City Memory

Where civilizations meet

COME TO THE MEETING POINT OF CIVILIZATIONS

A city that, after its first settlement, was rebuilt on different sites and has been known by different names over time. Call it Ephesus, Ayasuluk or Selçuk if you like: these coordinates have always been a city of migration that has witnessed many different civilizations throughout history.

Ephesus Selçuk, which we might call a city of migrants, is a city where civilizations that arrived through migration have met, and a center of cultural exchange. We recommend a visit to Selçuk Ephesus City Memory, where you can see with your own eyes how this meeting point of civilizations has evolved through history and how it has been shaped by different cultures over the ages.

Originally opened as a tobacco warehouse, the building was also used as an arms depot during World War I and, after a thorough restoration, finally opened in 2012 as the Selçuk Ephesus City Memory Center. As a matter of principle, the Selçuk Ephesus City Memory Center presents the city as a whole, with its nature, people, places, historical objects, memories and documents, treating Selçuk Ephesus not merely as a place but as an economic, social, cultural and political whole. Touring the center, you can walk through the chronology of these lands and feel as if you were on a journey through time.
