Keçi Castle stands 9 km from Selçuk, at an altitude of 300 meters on Mount Alaman, known in ancient sources as Gallesion. Located at the southeastern tip of Mount Gallesion (Alaman), Keçi Castle was built in the Byzantine era and, with later additions from the Turkish period, still stands in impressive splendor today. Its first construction phase dates to the early Laskarid period. The castle was built on a hill overlooking, from a highly strategic point, the road approaching Ephesus from the north.
